Our History
The Lion's Club was established by a Chicago business man, Melvin Jones in 1917. Jones saw a need after WWI in the local area, gathering a group of other prominent business owner to join in leading a hand for the betterment of the individual and the community. Jones was quote to say: " You can't get very far until you start doing something for somebody else."
Today the International Lions Club is the largest service organization in the world, over 200 countries, with 1.4 million members. Addressing needs on a local basis keeping in mind our core values as the focus in all we do: Vision, Childhood Cancer, Hunger, Diabetes, and Environmental.
WESTERN Harnett LIon's Club: Established in 1998, 20 members joined to serve their fellow man. At the present time our roster has over 90 members. Men and women of all walks of life, from the ages to 19-mid 80's dedicate their free time towards local projects and fund raising to support our core values.
