Harnett County Buddy Backpack

Buddy Backpack is a nonprofit organization that provides non-perishable food items to elementary and middle school students in the county who need extra support over the weekend. Students are identified by school counselors, and bags of food are packed and delivered to schools each week.

Our Partnership

The WHLC has been supporting Buddy Backpacks for the last 17 years. We pack and deliver meals once a week to the schools in the county. Our Lions take pride in this project as we have lions that love to pack meals, break down boxes, and drive to deliver meals to the schools in our community.

The WHLC hosted a successful Comedy Night in February, made possible by the incredible support of our community. Thanks to this fundraiser, we were proud to donate $5,000 to Buddy Backpacks on March 27, 2026. We’re grateful for the community’s support in helping us make this contribution possible!
